Nasdaq's overnight session starts December 6, 2026: what changes, and overnight trading hours at 10 brokers from their own pages

Nasdaq: “On December 6, 2026, the Nasdaq Stock Market will introduce new trading hours from 9:00 pm-4:00 am ET .” With the existing pre-market and after-hours sessions, that makes trading 23 hours a day, five days a week. As of October 31, 2026 (Eastern time):

  • 7 of the 10 brokers below already offer overnight trading, mostly from 8 p.m. Sunday to Thursday. Robinhood and Webull say their overnight orders run on alternative trading systems, not on an exchange.
  • Fidelity, SoFi and eToro USA's US accounts do not; their pages show only pre-market and after hours, or regular hours.
  • None of the 10 pages says yet whether the broker will send orders to Nasdaq's new session. The exchange session also starts later (9 p.m.) than most brokers' overnight trading (8 p.m.).
  • Trade dates change at night. On the exchange session, trades from 9 p.m. to midnight carry the next day's trade date (details).

What the exchange session changes

  • Hours. Nasdaq's new session runs 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. ET; with pre-market (4 to 9:30 a.m.) and after hours (4 to 8 p.m.) it becomes what Nasdaq calls the Global Trading Session.
  • A one-hour pause. A law firm's summary of the rules: the session runs “from Sunday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. ET, with a mandatory one-hour trading pause Monday through Thursday evening between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. ET”.
  • Trade dates. “Trades executed between 9 p.m. and midnight ET will carry the next calendar day's trade date, and settle one day later.” “Trades between midnight and 4 a.m. ET will carry that day's trade date.”
  • Only through member brokers. “Only U.S. broker-dealers that are members of Nasdaq and NYSE Arca may trade during the overnight session.” NYSE Arca targets the same date.
  • Trade reporting moves too. “the FINRA/Nasdaq TRFs will move to a 23/5 schedule on December 6, 2026.”

How we checked

  • Nasdaq's hub and trader alert, and Skadden's client note on the approved rules, read October 31, 2026.
